Procedure

  1. Beat the eggs  with the sugar until the mixture is light and frothy.

  2. Add  the oil  (or melted butter) and continue mixing.

  3. Gradually incorporate the  sifted flour with the yeast , alternating with the milk or yogurt.

  4. Add  lemon zest or vanilla  for flavor.

  5. If you wish, add chopped  apples or pears , or raisins or nuts.

  6. Pour the mixture into a greased and floured 24cm cake tin  .

  7. Bake in a  preheated oven at 180°C for 40-45 minutes . Test with a toothpick to see if it's cooked through.

  8. Let it cool and, if you like, sprinkle with  icing sugar .

💡 Advice

  • Also excellent the next day, perfect for breakfast with tea or coffee with milk.

  • It can be stored under a glass bell jar for 3-4 days.

  • You can replace the fruit with  chocolate chips  for a more indulgent variation.

❤️ Why do it again today?

To feel  the taste of home .
To rediscover  authentic simplicity .
To spend an hour in the kitchen, perhaps with your children or grandchildren,  telling stories of the past .

If you want, I can also help you customize this cake in the following version:

  • lactose-free
